From Landfills to Upcycling: Unraveling Thailand's Plastic Predicament - Our Inaugural Project
In the heart of Thailand, nestled amid the bustling streets of Bangkok, our production house embarked on its maiden project – a documentary delving into the profound impact of plastic on marine biology. Partnering with NHK World from Japan and NBT World from Thailand, we were entrusted with a task that encompassed every facet of our company’s expertise, from ideation to execution.

Formulating Ideas Across Continents:
The journey began with a series of long-distance meetings, as our Thai team collaborated closely with our Japanese counterparts. Together, we meticulously crafted the narrative, intertwining perspectives from both nations to offer a comprehensive view of the plastic crisis.
A Stench of Revelation:
Venturing into a Bangkok landfill, we were confronted with an olfactory assault, as the combined scent of water and refuse hung heavily in the air. Surprising revelations awaited us – a staggering 50% of the daily collected waste consisted of water, creating a pungent brew. Of the plastic waste, a mere 10% proved recyclable, while the remaining 10% languished, awaiting decomposition over centuries.
Navigating Waterways: A Surprising Plight:
Embarking on a boat ride alongside waterway authorities, we witnessed firsthand the shocking extent of pollution. Communities lining the canals and rivers treated these natural channels as makeshift dumps, indiscriminately discarding everything from household items to electronics. Amidst this deluge, plastic reigned supreme, presenting an urgent call to action.
A Beacon of Hope: The Temple’s Uplifting Endeavor:
In our quest for solutions, we stumbled upon a beacon of hope – a temple dedicated to collecting discarded plastics from neighboring communities. Teaming up with an oil conglomerate, they ingeniously transformed this waste into practical materials, including cloth. This collaboration exemplified the power of unity in combating the plastic crisis.
Faces of Change: Interviews with Changemakers:
We orchestrated a symphony of interviews, spanning the dedicated waterway clean-up crews, the visionary monks spearheading the upcycling initiative, and a Japanese researcher whose expertise on the ground lent invaluable insights. The Director-General of the Pollution Control Department illuminated their tireless efforts to curtail plastic waste.
Uniting Nations: Filming the Vision:
When the Japanese team landed in Thailand, the project sprang to life. We crisscrossed Bangkok, capturing the essence of our subjects in their natural habitats. From the bustling urban landscape to the serene temple grounds, every frame was a testament to the indomitable spirit of those combating plastic pollution.
Weaving the Tapestry: Piecing Together the Story:
With reels of footage in hand, our teams converged to breathe life into the narrative. Hours of careful editing, meticulous sound design, and seamless transitions coalesced to form a compelling testament to the urgency of the plastic crisis.
Conclusion:
On November 9, 2022, our labor of love made its debut on NHK World. This inaugural project encapsulated the essence of our company – a dedication to storytelling, a passion for change, and an unwavering commitment to shedding light on the issues that matter most. As we look to the future, we carry this triumph with us, fueling our resolve to continue making a difference, one project at a time.
